Molecular Switches
The sequence-defined programmability of functional nucleic acids make them ideal molecular players to artificially recreate naturally-occurring mechanisms and to govern more complex cell-like behaviors. They can be indeed easily networked to control other biomolecules thanks to the unique responsive properties. We are currently working on projects where the goal is to mimic fundamental molecular mechanisms as cooperativity and allostery using programmable DNA/RNA molecules.
